A lot of people these days are thinking more about the environment and what they can do to help the planet.
I’ve been trying to make a more conscious effort myself and thought a good way to help people make the right choices is to gift them an eco-friendly present!
As I get older I like to buy people fun but practical gifts.
I just think it’s a waste of money buying someone something that collects dust!
The Christmas that’s just gone I’ve made such an effort to buy as much environmentally friendly gifts as possible.
I’m no expert but I’ve been researching and learning more about eco gift giving. I’m going to share some gifts I’ve given and found along the way…
Children’s gifts are probably easier to buy than anyone,
It’s so easy to go to the toy shop and pick an age-appropriate plastic toy because the child is probably going to love any toy they are given and most of the time they’re only enjoying them for 5 mins and move onto the next thing.
Buying a child something that’s a bit ‘outside the box’ will interest them a lot more and may teach them to make better choices in the future regarding our precious planet.
13 Eco Gifts Ideas That Your Friends And Family Will Love
1. Wooden Toys
So personally I think wooden toys look a lot more pleasing to the eye and they’re so much more durable than plastic. They can be educational and open up a child’s imagination!
You can get so many different types of wooden toys such as marble runs, train tracks, bath toys, play food and so on.
Children will be more creative with their play rather than a toy with batteries that you can only do one thing.
I admit children probably don’t appreciate clothes as a preset but there are so many cool organic cotton clothes out there.
Just because they’re made from organic cotton it doesn’t stop the fabric from being bright and colorful.
I love the patterns and colors of children clothes and if I could get away with wearing them I would!
3. Comforters And Soft Toys
Children LOVE teddies and comforters and are always winners when buying a gift for a special little one.
My son still sleeps with about 30 teddies on his bed!
Many teddies, comforters and blankets are made with organic materials and fairly traded.
Eco friendly beauty products are more popular than ever and who wouldn’t want to receive new beauty products you’ve possibly never used before?
Or something you’ve never even considered trying but received it and now love it?
Eco beauty products are something different to your standard bottle of perfume or bubble bath set that you get every Christmas which straight away means it’s more interesting and may open some peoples minds!
4. Solid Shampoo Bars
Shampoo bars are completely plastic and chemical free. They are made with natural ingredients that are also cruelty-free.
They aren’t much more expensive than your standard shampoo and can last up to 4 times longer than a bottle of shampoo.
How cool is that?
5. Reusable Make Up Remover Pads/ Wash Clothes
During my many hours of scrolling through Instagram and Pinterest I came across products such as reusable make up wipes and bamboo wash clothes.
They come in so many colors and patterns (which I LOVE) and are so much more green then one use make up wipes.
I can tell I’m getting older by being excited about these if I received these for a gift I’d love it!
I’m sure they’re other people out there who would love these also.
Check out www.marleysmonsters.com I love everything!!
Toiletries cover quite a lot of different products and there are hundreds out there!
A winning gift idea would be to make an eco-friendly gift basket!
Reduce the amount of plastics being used and please someone special with an interesting gift.
Toiletries could include:
- A natural deodorant stick
- A bamboo toothbrush
- Bamboo dental floss
- Eco-friendly shower puff
- Natural toothpaste
- Natural soap with a soap saver bag
- Bamboo hairbrush
The list goes on and as people are more conscious the list will grow.
I also believe the products look nicer as well.
Gifts for a more green lifestyle can be hard to dislike.
Bamboo is eco-friendly because it is renewable and bamboo forests can grow within a few years!

Everyone loves a candle, don’t they?
Paraffin candles aren’t biodegradable at the end of their ‘lives’ and can also be slightly toxic!
They are made from petroleum wax which isn’t natural or sustainable.
Soy candles aren’t toxic, are vegetable based and are biodegradable so when looking for a candle make sure it is a natural one!
9. Sow A Seed
This one is for someone with green fingers!
Why not buy someone a gift box for starting their own vegetable patch?
A gift that can start a hobby in someone, they can eat the vegetables that THEY grew and friendly to our planet.
Buy a gift basket of seeds and pots, get flowers and plants that attract bees such as lavender.
Bees keep our planet green and without them, many of our plant populations will decline.

10. Safety Razor
Safety razors are not the most exciting gift but can be for someone who is into looking after planet earth.
It is an alternative to disposable plastic razors, which can’t be recycled.
Of course, they are a bit more expensive but worth it!

These are an ideal gift for any music lovers and they look so cool as well. Not only do they sound great but they’re also better as they’re made from bamboo!
12. Glass Water Bottle With Crystals
Now remember these are mostly useful gifts and just an idea, but you can get some really cool water bottles.
When scrolling through Instagram I came across some glass water bottles with crystals inside.
They look so bohemian and cool it becomes a fashion accessory rather than a boring old plastic water bottle.
Also drinking the water with crystals in it is believed to help you heal and release positive vibes.
13. Give An eGift Card
Just like a regular gift card but saves using a PVC gift card!
These can only be brought online and is sent to the recipient via email.
They are handy as they will always be with you in your inbox, no more leaving your gift card at home.
This also gives the recipient the choice of what they want to buy.
So there we have it!
A few examples of what you could gift for a more sustainable planet.
It leaves you feeling less guilty about buying unpractical gifts and it shows you put some thought into the gift you’re buying the person.
